Simply breathtaking - Art Nouveau windows, topped with a grand Baroque style dome

My parents and I took the Eurostar from Paris to St. Pancras on the 18th of April 2014. After dropping our bags off at the hotel, I allowed them a mere twenty minutes rest before taking the tube* to Knightsbridge and visiting three iconic London sites- Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Hyde Park.

*I encountered problem number one at this point because I had looked up the tube route but the closest station (Russell Square) was closed, which I soon learnt was quite the norm, but it sure took me by surprise this time.

You are greeted at the door by lovely men in uniformed attire- olive green coats and a hat with a patent leather brim. After a wander through the fashion department, we headed toward the famous Harrods food hall...

My mum was intrigued by the Bateel counter - which originated in Al Ghat, a town in Central Arabia . They specialise in gourmet dates but also offer a range of Arabic sweets and pastries. We had never seen these before and the man explained the different treats which was very helpful!

Finally, we took our goodies to nearby Hyde Park. My parents were especially excited about Hyde Park because it is a London icon that they have heard about growing about.

We also took a gander inside Harvey Nichols before taking the tube back to the hotel (no problems this time) to recharge for a big day of sight seeing ahead.
